Circa 2015: You wake up in the morning to make coffee and you find that you are low on coffee or milk. You press a Dash button attached to your coffee machine and it orders your usual brand of coffee/milk from Amazon. Meanwhile your washing machine detects that it is going to need your preferred brand of detergent in about 2 days and automatically goes ahead and places an order. Finally another  button hanging over your baby’s pram finds that its been 2 weeks since you ordered your baby’s diapers and its time to do so now! In case you are thinking this is out of some sci-fi movie, think again. This already happened. YESTERDAY!

So in this blog post we are going to take a look at some of the cool things that the Amazon Dash Incredible button can do.  In the sequel to this post we are going to have some fun with the Dash Buttons. We are going to gatecrash the Roadies Season X4 and suggest some products for the contestants and judges to buy using the Amazon Dash Incredible Button. Who knows they might need it in a tight spot right?

Tamanna Roadies need a dash of shopping!

Since Amazon launched its Dash buttons the above scene is actually playing out in homes across America. You can buy Dash buttons under 5$ and even that amount is credited towards your first purchase. The button is a single piece of hardware that has just one function: to cut through all the going on the internet, searching for the product you want, placing an order, adding shipping details, making payment etc and directly placing an order at Amazon. The Amazon Dash Incredible button utilizes the Wi-fi at your home to place the order for that specific product and notifies you over your smartphone in case you have placed the order by mistake or your child or your dog has pressed the button  and you want to cancel the order.

Besides the standalone Dash Incredible Button there is something called the DRS (Dash Replenishment System) which permits the Dash Button to be integrated into your appliances which then order for specific products directly when the supply gets low. Currently Amazon has come up  up with Dash Buttons for more than a 100 products. Notable among the early birds are Whirlpool, Purell hand sanitizers, Tide detergents, Starbucks Coffee, Doritos and even Trojan Condoms.

The Dash Incredible Button is unveiled as a part of Amazon’s plan for the future of shopping!

The way we shop is an important indication of the times we live in. Our weekly trudge on weekends to the local mall, shopping lists in hand was what defined us decades ago. Companies researching Consumer Behavior had limited information regarding our habits and preferences. Then came the age of online shopping. We still have shopping lists and buy in bulk to avail of deals and free shipping. What Amazon is attempting to do is change our way of shopping from bulk to piecemeal, on a as and when needed basis. You do not need to haul yourself to the mall or your computer or smartphone to buy what you need. All you need to do is press a button in the comfort of your home and Presto!

If you look at the Dash  buttons Amazon is coming up with you cant help but notice an incontrovertible fact. All the products are recurring consumption products. It seems like Amazon is targeting specific niches and small value purchases but which make up a cumulatively large volume. True your choices will be limited by the deals Amazon strikes  with product manufacturers but what you get is a one button purchase and timely delivery fulfilled by Amazon at affordable prices.

Amazon watchers know that this largely what to expect from a company like Amazon which focuses on its customers more than its competitors. It drives sales through innovation and maintains Amazon Position through excellent infrastructure and a long term perspective.

Amazon never takes its eyes off its customers and seeks to enhance their experience through commitment to excellence!

Here’s a list of some of the products for which the Dash Incredible button is available for its Prime users.
